Adult ADHD Testing

If you're curious whether or not you meet criteria for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), there are many options available to you. Mission Psychology offers neuropsychological testing for ADHD in San Antonio, TX and Victoria, TX.

So what does that look like?

Neuropsychological testing using a combination of an intensive clinical interview, paper and computerized cognitive tests to answer two critical questions:

  • Are you experiencing clinical deficits in your attention?

  • Are the deficits you are experiencing best attributed to ADHD?

The process typically looks like this:

  1. Referral: Our office receives a referral either from your doctor or from you! (See self-referral form here). This referral includes some basic information about why you are pursuing ADHD testing.

  2. Insurance Verification: Our staff verifies your insurance coverage for testing with your insurance company. Your insurance company may require a referral from your primary care provider.

  3. Scheduling: We contact you to schedule your initial appointment, a clinical interview with one of our clinicians. Interviews may be in-person or by video.

  4. Complete Forms: You complete paperwork such as informed consent forms, personal history, and other administrative details either online or on paper prior to your appointment. If you have them, we welcome records of previous assessments or other relevant experiences.

  5. Clinical Interview: You participate in a 50 min interview with a clinician discussing your symptoms, background, and related medical history. Together you determine whether to proceed with cognitive testing.

  6. Cognitive assessment: If you and your assigned provider decide to proceed with assessment, you will return for a 2-4 hour appointment to complete a series of assessment tasks with one of our testing technicians. This testing will be tailored by your clinician to best evaluate your difficulties based on your concerns and personal history. Thus, the duration of testing varies from person to person.

  7. Feedback: You have a final 50 minute meeting with your clinician to go over the results of the testing and treatment recommendations. If you allow it, we will send a comprehensive report to your treating provider. We can also send a copy to your school or other interested party at your request.
